A Blog.

So, this is a blog.

When I was a boy, it was called a Journal. But hey, when I was a boy, a thong was a disposable beach shoe not something you wore between your – . Well, you get the picture.

“That which has been is what will be, that which is done is what will be done, and there is nothing new under the sun.”* As said by Solomon a very long time ago before Christ was born.

I enjoy doing research for Bible study. If I was a young man I would go to school and study Hebrew and Greek. But I am not. So I study. We talk Bible here, pearls of the scriptural kind. So if are the progeny of swine, you should know that this page is not for you and you probably won’t understand what is being said. “But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.”*

If your spirit is not born again, well, let’s just say it would be like talking to a brick. Or a swine, take your pick.

Why a blog?

Miracles are real. They happen. God speaks in many ways, usually in a still, small voice. When a sparrow lands beside you and just sits there, that is usually God sending you a wink. I have also heard Him speak through a game of solitaire, through a very incredible snowflake, I have even witnessed Him changing the weather just to answer a simple prayer. The trick is to listen.

Why study?

My first Bible was a King James given to me by my grandfather. I was five years old and can show you the page where I signed my own name. That was a while ago. There has been a great deal of study between then and now. Mostly I wanted to understand. But the more I learn, the more I know how much I don’t know. There are no contradiction in scripture. But there are opportunities to learn more about God.

Recently I was feeling pretty knowledgeable about scripture. A news story one morning, about a young Pastor’s wife being murdered, knocked me to my knees. I don’t understand. So I study.

My intention is to treat this like a twice weekly devotional. But we’ll see how that goes.

I live in the Pacific Northwest, in the farmland of eastern Washington. I was born and raised in a small town and think like someone raised in a small town. Farmers are a unique bunch, and will often use the subjects of regional news as the butt of jokes.

Example: Recently I have heard that doing something that makes absolutely no sense (ie: stupid) is now referred to as pulling a Jayapal. Google the name, she is a Senator. Whatever.

*Ecclesiastes 1:9.

1 Corinthians 2:14

THIS IS A WARNING LABEL: Sometimes a keyboard allows me to channel my inner child, and that one is politically incorrect, and even finds humor in things like blonde jokes. Just be warned.
